I prefer paperbacks. for several reasons. 1) they're cheaper most of the time. 2) they take up less space so I can fit more on my shelves. since my place is small, that matters a lot to me. 3) the pages are thinner and the print tends to be smaller, which I appreciate as a compulsive person that likes to maximize use of whatever space I have. 4) they are lightweight and a lot easier to carry around in my purse. I take books with me whenever I go anywhere, and I hate how bulky hardbacks tend to be. 5) I hate dust jackets. they get in the way and just annoy ne. but, taking a hardback book somewhere without the dust jacket on means risking staining the book or getting it wet or something equally horrifying. I don't seem to run into that problem with paperbacks.

Hardbacks! I feel like I have to be so careful if I'm reading a paperback if I still want it to look nice afterwards. Also they look amazing on my shelves (: They also end up being worth more if ever I decide to sell them so they can be considered an investment even though I don't plan to part with them ever.

I actually don't mind them both. A good chunk of the books I own are paperback, but that is because that is all that was available. Since I had to order books online a lot, most of the books I wanted were only available in either paperback or kindle. I must have the physical copy! Plus they are cheaper than hardback. But because I am an accident prone person, hardback books are more suitable for me. I've also noticed the same thing when it comes to reading a hardcover books as opposed to paperback, people don't bug me as much when I have a hardback book in hand. My mom prefers hardback books as well because they are more durable than paperback so whenever she gets me books, she makes sure they are just that.

I like hardbacks because you don't get that glossy film coming away from the cover where your hand has been holding it, like it does with a paperback.

I like its weight you feel when you're reading. And because it doesn't get harmed easily😎

Had to use a hard back as a weapon recently. Person leaves me alone now when I'm reading.

I mostly read nonfiction, and monographs published by cartel-like academic publishers are insanely expensive, but with perseverance and patience I will hunt down used copies in hardback editions for my collection at more reasonable prices.

Hardbacks.
More durable. Pretty. And just feel better in the hand. Paperbacks are for books that are disposable or that are not available otherwise.

Note, I rarely buy a book outright. I borrow it from the library and if I absolutely love it, only then do I buy it. And hardback, always.

I much prefer paperbacks! They are much easier to hold for my hands, it feels much better. Hardcovers are often so big. If they don't have a flappy bit, and the actual cover of the book has the nice picture, then I am fine with that. But I don't get along with the flappy bit, and I don't want to remove it because that makes the book look so bad. Paperbacks are also a lot cheaper. The downside is that I have to wait longer, but I do that, I wait. A paperback is also easier to take with me when travelling. I do have an ereader and I do use it, particularly when travelling, but if the book is available in paperback, I much prefer to have the paperback book. I mostly use my ereader for ebook only books, such as short stories and novellas. It seems most people on BookTube prefer hardcover books.

I prefer hardback also. Like you I do not want to wait for it to come out in paperback but also I think the hardback books are so beautiful!

I prefer reading paperbacks because they're so light and owning hardbacks because they look nice.

I've also noticed that the books I absolutely ADORE are paperbacks because I had a greater experience reading them.

I prefer hardbacks to but if I can’t get the book on the hardback or at a good reusable price I’d go to paperbacks but I would get hardbacks if I can I am not judging.

Hardback is always the better choice, especially if it's a 600+ page novel. It's easier to hold, flip through the pages, and has a better print and text quality. Also, it's much more durable and looks nicer than a paperback book.

I love hardbacks books to paperback books, but I do have more paperbacks just because they are cheaper. Unfortunately they aren't all in good conditions because of that which really sucks.

Agree 100% I will never buy a paperback ever. They are for plebs.

I prefer paperbacks, but holy crap I've totally forgotten how much damage hardbacks can do in a self-defense emergency hahahah!!

I prefer paperback because I can easily slip it in my pocket and go about my day. I can't pocket a hardcover, so I tend to only read them home. Whereas a paperback, I can take it anywhere

Too funny! I prefer hardbacks but if I start a series in paperback I will continue it that way assuming its older and they are all released. It is easier on my bookfund as well. Love all your reasonings for me the 5th reason is they sometimes have a prettier cover. Im book vain what can I say??

I prefer paper covers because they're easier to read from, don't strain your arm muscles holding them, don't hurt as much if you drop them on your face, and they're cheaper! (:
