Reasons why South Vietnam suffered many casualties:
- Coup: After the 1963 coup, South Vietnam's management became weak.

- Corruption and inflation: The coup led to an increase in corruption and inflation.

- Loss of public support: Policies such as the Land Reform Policy of the Saigon government or Ngo Dinh Diem government were no different from those of the French Empire and the campaigns to eliminate communists and those who opposed Diem. Finally, when Ngo Dinh Diem suppressed the Buddhists in the South and forced people to follow Catholicism, and he was trying to reconcile with the Hanoi government to unify the two regions in peace, the US found a way to overthrow him.

- Division within the military: When General Duong Van Minh overthrew and killed Ngo Dinh Diem, those who supported Diem did not like the new regime. This led to coups originating from the South Vietnamese military that supported Diem.

--Weapon shortage: During the civil war, the Northern army destroyed most of the Southern weapon bases.

- US troop withdrawal: In 1973, US troops withdrew due to international pressure and pressure from the American people, causing the resistance in South Vietnam to no longer last. South Vietnam had been too dependent on the US military for 10 years, leading to a lack of leadership capabilities.
