TAILORNOVA - A tale of Sadness and Broken Promises - Keep or Yeet?

Показать описание
Tailornova promises sewing patterns with no Math calculations, so I tried them out so you don't have to. This is not your usual Tailornova Review.

We are allowed to download two free patterns using our measurements as instructed in the website. The patterns are well made, but there are no sewing instructions available yet.

I also found a little mistake on the technical drawing, but again - I am very picky person. The Tailornova website is not really finished and they are still working on it and we can expect new cool updates, but most of the nice features are behind the monthly subscription service pay-wall.

There are a few adjustments necessary, but this also happen with patterns you calculate from stretch, so we can't be so mean about it. The only thing I am totally unhappy about Tailornova is the fact that I was not able to fix that shirt (still) - I will do it, though and I will keep you informed hehehe.

Did you try it out? What was your experience?
Overall I think Tailornova is a great idea and asset for designers, but it is still rough around the edges... Let's see what the future brings us.

For now, I will continue to draft my own patterns, so a lot more math to come...

I’m a technical design and industrial pattern maker. I knew immediately the blouse tech drawing was wrong by looking at the front bodice. Can’t believe there are companies reaping off people like this!

I printed two free patterns but haven't sewn them yet. I was about to pay for tailornova to gain access to more. I decided to see if there were any reviews out there first. I am glad I did. I hate wasting fabric, and if I try to sew up the two I downloaded, assuming they will fit well because I punched in my specific measurements, I would have wasted some fabric. Thanks for this very honest review!

That fabric is SO BEAUTIFUL! I'm getting anxious watching this-hoping that the pattern turns out okay and the beautiful fabric is not wasted!

I've loved your stuff to buy or not, so funny. Only NOW I see what a well versed, expert sewest you are. good. I am enjoying and dying to see, ah, arriving at the end. Shocking it needs alterations. Glad you gave all the instructions.

Thank goodness someone made an honest review!! Paid to use their site and had so many problems with it!! Don't get me wrong I've got 20+ patterns printed out but I know I'll have to alter the majority of them and I nearly ripped my hair out with how long it took to design my patterns! Definitely not worth the money at the moment with all the glitches but fingers crossed the work they do on the website helps because it's got so much potential.

I tried Tailornova and Sewist. I prefer Sewist but had no problem with Tailornova. However, the design possibilities are very limited and they are, to my mind, too expensive. I also like Lekala digital design. They have a bunch of very interesting ready-designs and you put in your measurements, choose the design you like, pay the fee and download the pattern. There is loads to choose from. The prices are reasonable and fair. I have not sewn my choice up yet and expect some fitting problems, also because it is really difficult to get exact measurements, since I am on my own. Particularly the block patterns from Sewist called "Pattarns" are really good. You get so many different blocks (plain top, slim skirt, A-line skirt, various sleeves, various necklines and facings, trousers, even peplums, pricess-style and more). And the price is really low. They are also very helpful and answer quickly.

This was interesting! Just learned about this site so came here for some review action. Not that I'm about to order anything from them :D But I'm always sus about a promise of a well drafted, fitting pattern. The high points were a bit all over the place and that top fit was just sooo weird! Like SO weird!

Ok that was an informative video about tailornova, thank you for that, but OH GOD THANK YOU for all those times you showed Sushi. If that dog is not the cutest thing, then I don't know what is

This is a really helpful review! I am worse than a newbie so it's useful to know all this stuff

I was taught to press my dart toward the side seams. But I believe it is a purely personal preference.

Looks like the pattern block is based on Helen Armstrong’s book. If that’s the case the pattern requires *contouring* when making certain neckline/styles.

So tailornova sounds like a platform for creating combinations of existing garment features? I was really hoping it would be more like digital draping. Clo3D has digital draping combined with flat pattern manipulation but the end use appears to be more about digital fashion shows rather than quality patterns that can be sold. I was hoping TN was the solution for fully custom pattern designing and output. Darn. Thank you for the review!

Love your video editing, you are so funny! Just to clarify some stuff about Tailornova - it's still very new, not at all complete. Lots to improve upon, much to add, many problems we are working to resolve. You can join the Tailornova Facebook group to ask questions, share projects and keep up with the updates. It's released even with its imperfections, definitely not made for absolute beginners.

I like Sewist better. I bought their "Pattarn" (no spelling mistake!) and with a tiny bit of work, you can make just about anything from those basic patterns. From memory, it cost me around Euro 8.

thanks for this, I also had a nightmare with the pattern. I did overalls and the pants were fine but the length on the top....very off.
