Can you run a specific workout pace on feel alone? Without looking at your watch?

Tempo runs, steady runs, threshold runs, VO2 max workouts…they all have a “feel” to them and if you can learn how to pace them properly without being a slave to your watch, you can become a better, more adaptable runner.

The first step is understanding the purpose of each run. That’s key to determining how you should feel for each one.

RunnersConnect’s Coach Claire takes three common endurance workouts, the steady, the tempo, and the VO2 Max runs, and dives into their purposes, how hard they should be, and how you should be breathing for each one.

With these simple tips, you can learn to nail your running paces by feel without overly relying on your watch in any conditions!

This is exactly how i run, i always reel myself in at the very start and build to the end.
This has transferred over to race day, where i start slower and finish fast.
