LOVED this one. If I were Ann Cleves I'd be especially pleased with the casting of Jen the Police Sergeant, she's a natural. Also really enjoyed the play between Matthew and his husband Jonathan as the side story.

I've read the book but unfortunately I feel dissapointed by the series adaption. Ben Alridge's performance was very good, the only thing I can recall it deserved my attention. I did not like the fact that the series adaption was far different from the movie. If you watch it without reading the book first, I suppose it is a good series but compare it to the book I was waiting more accurate adaption.

It's pretty bad. It's not meant to be funny but it is. Especially the scene with the toaster. If you're a fan or Vera and Shetland - and who isn't - this turgid soap with some terrible supporting performances, isn't in the same class. Even Juliette Stevenson who is always good, is defeated by this. It's good to look at but not for one second do you believe that anyone here could be in the police force. This one's a huge misfire.
