Fusion 360 Tutorial – Emboss is BOSS!

preview_player
Показать описание
Taking a look at the new emboss feature recently added to Fusion 360. It's pretty boss! I made some examples of applying circular and rectangular patterns to embosses. Can we apply an emboss to a surface that has been embossed? Some limitations with self-intersecting and how to do tapered knurling.

Download the examples

If you want to emboss around a cylinder without too much trial and error, your sketch width needs to match the circumference of the cylinder's outer wall. So 2(Pi)R to get the correct width.

This was just the sort of thing I was looking for ! I am a beginner in Fusion 360 and wanted the ability to add the appearance of riveted steel plates to my rocket models for an art project. Your video was so fascinating I just had to subscribe.

Oh, this opens up so many doors for me. I've been experimenting with lithophane prints, and being able to use SVG sketches instead of online lithophane generators makes it possible to absorb the lithophane into more complex models. This is perfect - I'm interested to see how embossing/debossing works with a sphere. Thank you for a very good tutorial: Clear, concise and easy to follow.

That trick with deleting those end faces of grove to create seamless emboss is great.

So many people are suggesting to do complicated things like spiral cuts and apply circular patterns to that and I was getting insane. This looks SO MUCH EASIER.

Some of this would have been SO USEFUL on a model I made recently. I've been wanting to make some major changes to that model, I may redraw it using what I've learned here.

This is a great tutorial. Thank you! I am trying to repeat this method on the surface of an elipse but i cant seem to select the elipse surface when doing the emboss operation. Anyone know a solution to this or had a similar problem?
