Braxton Bragg was a Confederate general, but he was notoriously bad at it. So bad that the Dept of the Army was willing to name that fort after him, while there was no Fort Longstreet named after a Confederate general who served the USA loyally after the Civil War, because he was a competent officer during the Civil War.
