Had the pleasure of working in a very wonderful shipyard ( building ships and submarines - loved it ).
Had the luxury of working in bays where the ship was finished we fould the dock with water and the ship shale out to the river in the state in which I was employed at that time ( different last name then also ! )
When ships came for repairs or over hall, we also allow them to sail in the dock onto mounts, then release that water back out to the river.
We all worked ( still women were treated with the utmost respect there). Miss it over 40+ years later ❣️
