Medvedev EXPLODES on umpire at Australian Open

Watch Daniil Medvedev absolutely lose it on this chair umpire at the Australian Open in 2022. Medvedev was upset because he thought his opponent, Stefanos Tsistipas, was being illegally coached by his father between points. Medvedev was probably right, but the rule has since been changed that forbids a player's team (including parents) from coaching during a match.

According to the International Tennis Federation (ITF) rules, players are not allowed to receive coaching during a match. Any communication between a player and a coach, whether audible or visible, can be considered as coaching and is prohibited 1. However, there have been changes to the rules in recent years. In-match coaching with restrictions is now permitted as part of rules initially brought in at the 2022 US Open. The Australian Open also implemented the trial in January 2023 and the French Open and Wimbledon followed suit 2. Coaches can offer brief verbal instructions and provide guidance through gestures but they still can’t have a conversation with their players during breaks in play, when there is a brief match delay or when competitors take a bathroom break 2.
I hope this helps!

The good thing about people who talks English as a second language is they're direct no matter how harsh they might sound 😂

It’s the semi finals and your not allowed to talk between points but the opponent’s father is giving him an unfair advantage and the umpire is letting it slide

"How can you be so bad in semifinal of a grandslam?" 😂😂

The only thing he didn’t say is “Are you going to let him cheat the whole game?”

He was right and brave. Someone needs to speak out.

Medvedev is correct in asking . Here reaching finals is at stake. People work their entire life for Nobody allowed to talk between points so as to not allow unjustified advantage. Here this guy is frustrated correctly so because Tsistipas father was helping his son ( this guy's opponent) n the refree is allowing. So naturally that's totally these comments against Medvedev are not only ignorant but also has not played any game to understand what it feels..

Even though I am from Greece I dislike Tsitsipa because of his behaviour in general. Congratulations to

I absolutely hate unjust and unfair situations. I would shout as well if I were him.

Medvedev wasn't being disrespectful and was absolutely right. It's ridiculous that the umpire was allowing Tsitsipas to talk to his father after every single point and get unfair coaching advantage. After every single point! Good on Medvedev for calling the jerk out, someone had to stop the umpire from doing so one way or another. I hope he gets reprimanded for that. That's illegal.

If the father is not allowed to talk between points and the coach is allowing it to happen then he is right to bring it everyone’s attention.

Daniil didn't say it right. The McEnroe Doctrine insists that the player has to say, "Answer my question....JERK!"
