While listening back to this, I realized that here, in my six pen case at the office, I have a Lamy 2000, a sailor pro gear slim, an e95s, and an 823. It scares me that I am mind-twinning with Drew right now.

The harder the question the more Drew steps up to the plate and knocks it out of the park!! Great list Drew.

Can't deny it - sometimes these "mini" cuts of bigger pen casts are great - helps with my short attention span! Lamy 2000 is on my Next Pen List! Thanks Drew!

everyone needs a
1. Jinhao 992 for those inks you dont want to ruin putting in any other pen ..
2. Fountain Pen Revolution Himalaya with the ultraflex nib for those fancy writings,
3. kakimori dip nib for testing inks,
4. Twsbi swipe medium for all your basic every day writing,
5. Leonardo Momento Magico Broad nib in emerald cause its showstoppingly beautiful :)

1. TWSBI 580: Best fountain pen under $100.
2. Pilot Vanishing Point: Due to the fact that this is a retractable fountain pen, it's great for taking notes.
3. Pilot Justus 95: You can adjust the softness of the nib.
4. Montblanc 149: Actually this could be any grail pen. It doesn't have to be a Montblanc 149.
5. Ballpoint Pen: Fountain pen users need to have a ball point pen when someone who isn't a fountain pen user ask them for a pen.

I think having something with a JOWO threaded nib is a must if having a small collection. Then you can really experiment and also "upgrade" it along the way with different nibs. I think an opus 88 with a stacked nib for example would be an awesome pen, high capacity and versatile AF nib with lots of options (I think the stacked nibs that are fine or extra fine on one side and bold on the other are amazing).

I think a Pilot Vanishing point has to be there for quick draw needs

2. Schon DSGN pocket 6
3. Pilot Kakuno(s)
4. Custom Pen from favoured maker

For drawing, I use a wide variety of nibs:
1. Franklin-Christoph <needlepoint>
2. Sailor Pro Gear <M>
3. Any fude nib, like a Sailor Fude de Mannen
4. Good Blue L130 [zoom]
5. Pilot Parallel [6.0]
Next 2 would be a <BB> and a stub. Finally a flex, like a Pilot 743 <FA>.

My picks: The Pilot Metropolitan Calligraphy is a great everyday writer with a small stub nib. TSWB 580 for volume. Lamy Safari or Al-Star. Lamy 2000. Kaweco Sport for a pocket pen. All of which are very affordable pens and easy maintenance. The Lamy 2000 being the most out of pocket.

Currently…my 5: pilot vanishing point-fine, twsbi Eco stub nib, Benu ice caramel latte-med, Delta Lapis Blue Palladium-med, and a Conklin Endura - fine. Frankly there is an assortment of dip pen nibs. I’m with Drew in that dip pens are a great way to test run an ink or for a quick change up.

Who am I kidding…five. Only five?! This limitation is cruelty defined.

Thanks 👌 I think they’re both gorgeous! I wish they’d colour coordinate the sections all of their Al-Stars. I agree with Brian, a complete pen of that royal blue would be perfect.

Wow! A Kakimori dip nib as a suggestion...and a great one! I started sketching about a year ago and picked one of these up for ink sketches -- it's a great, all purpose "pen" (well, except for carrying in your pocket..)

A couple pens there were already on my watch list (Pilot E93 and Lamy 2000, and now I know about the steel nib pen... that would make a good swatch pen option. One of these days I'll catch up with the podcast...

I think a list like this would have to include a vanishing point? Solid otherwise Drew!

Nice list. Though, if I was going to show off my ink, I'd go with the TWSBI 700 vac filler in Iris. Thanks guys for another great video.

I have only a small collection, yet I have all of these but one - and the sailor is only a day away from delivery! Made me very happy :) Thanks for the vids, always enjoy them

1) Pocket Pen/EDC: Kaweco Brass Sport - Fine
2) "Take to Work" Pen: Lamy 2000 - Fine or Extra Fine
3) Long Writing Sessions (Journaling/Writing): Pilot 823 Custom or M800 - tough to pick - Fine Nib
4) Affordable "All-Rounder:" Sailor 1911L - Medium/Fine. It's nice but you don't have to stress about it. Can be used for anything from notes to longer sessions.
5) Grail or Sentimental Value Pen of choosing to keep the flame of joy burning bright. For me, this is my grandfather's Scheaffer 444XG with a fine nib.

TWSBI is one of my favorite brands. I had cracking issues. BUT it was my fault for over tighteneing. TWSBI replaced the pen bodies for $6 for 580 and Mini. Super service from TWSBI. Yay!!!

Nice list of pens. I have some, but not all. These, however, are pretty pricey. It would be neat to see the same list, only with more modestly priced options.
