After narrowly escaping a potentially disastrous first foray bogging I re-thought my self recovery options and decided to go with a snatch block and rope set up. Admittedly on smooth concrete but with an uphill gradient, the exercise was a proof of concept success that can be replicated in the bush and in worse conditions. Keep in mind I'm 60 with gout, arthritis, diabetes, heart disease and a massive hernia so I have to work smarter, not harder. Ideally I will avoid potential bogging situations but you never know what the real world will throw at you.
