NYPD officers attacked with machete near Times Square on New Year's Eve

Police said it happened outside a security screening zone for the New Year's Eve ball drop, CBS2's Christina Fan reports.

I can't wait to see the bodycam video. That shit must be intense.
Like many don't know, up close knife can beat gun in many instances. It's why cops typically don't let baddies with knives 15ft or so from them without firing.

As a former police officer, I hope they heal quickly. As a US citizen, this is yet another example how gun control does not work. You are trained that you can only meet with equal force. Or... you cannot bring a gun into a knife fight. People who wish to commit violence need an effective deterrent, not more useless laws. It used to be a known, you harm an officer, you were going down. Now you get free room and board, a free attorney, and people claiming that they were triggered by the uniform, and $0.00 bail. The whole system needs to be revamped and changed. Get cops trained and supported, weeding out the bad apples, and proper deterrents to keep the criminal element in check.
