13. The Sunken Forest of Kazakhstan.
Ever feel like swimming and climbing trees at the same time. The Sunken forest of Kazakhstan may be the place to go. Some points in this lake go as deep as 90 feet! Some people choose to go scuba diving here to take a look at the forest that once existed and is now almost completely under water. After a large earthquake hit the area, the fallen rocks from a landslide built a natural dam. Global warming isn’t the only thing that can destroy the environment!

12. Firefly Mating Ritual
The Bachelor fireflies put on quite a show in order to attract females on the prowl. During their 2-week life span as a mature firefly, they basically only cares about one thing; reproducing. Annually all the fireflies of the group begin a light show that attracts the human species as well. Visitors each year flock to the national parks to witness for themselves. But guys, this still doesn’t mean flashing random ladies is a good idea. Leave that to the fireflies.

11. White Nights in Saint Petersburg
Can you imagine a day where the sun just never set? This is a true phenomena that happens every year in summer in Saint Petersburg, Russia where it stays daytime all day. Due the northern location of Saint Petersburg and the earth’s tilted axis, the city barely needs to turn on the streetlights for almost a month! There is continuous light reached from the sun this is the largest city in the world where you can experience this, and a good place to get some vodka.

10. The Halo
The halo effect is an optical illusion produced by interacting ice crystals the atmosphere. It’s also known as an icebow, or nimbus. Imagine a rainbow in the shape of a perfect circle formation around the sun. The English and French took this as a sign of bad weather and called it a ”chicken’s eye”. Although cold weather may be there, you still have a beautiful Halo to look at when you’re outside.

9. Jupiter’s Red Spot
Jupiter may be too hard to see from earth with the naked eye, but that doesn’t stop the impressiveness of Jupiter’s red spot. Jupiter is an absolutely massive planet and the red eye is a cyclone storm larger than the size of Earth and has continued for the last 300 years. So don’t complain next time it’s drizzling and you can’t go to the pool. It could be a lot worse.

8. Giant Whirlpools of South Africa
Scientists recently discovered a massive whirlpool, luckily not from first hand, but with satellites. Not as big as Jupiter’s red spot but this is on Earth! This whirlpool had a 90-mile diameter and would have destroyed any modern day vessel with ease. Seems like something more out of an action movie really than a natural phenomenon.

7. Sailing Stones
If you’ve been to California’s Death Valley, you’ll notice sailing stones who seem to move by themselves and leave trails behind. You might have thought someone was crazy and decided to move rocks across the desert but this isn’t the case. The strange thing about this phenomenon is that no one has ever really witnessed the rocks actually moving. The movements are also very random and may move in abrupt patterns. It’s believed that the wind causes this but Death Valley isn’t really very windy…

6. The Pamukkale Salt Springs
In the Roman Era, the upper class come to spend their final days in the city of Pamukkale. In the middle of a green landscape lies the crystal clean water, the white cliffs that create beautiful landscapes to die for. The calcium deposits along with the heated springs leave hot pools that were believed in ancient times to have natural curing abilities and is still Turkey’s biggest attraction to tourists.

5. Fairy Circles in Namibia, Africa
Mysterious circles where grass just seems to be missing are commonly found in the country of Namibia and sometimes in Australia. These typically appear in the arid areas with low rain fall and have been seen for centuries. Ancient tribes in the area believed they were caused by footprints of the gods. There is still much mystery on how these are formed.

4. Lake Hillier, Australia
This lake seems to form spontaneously and is most notable for its color pink! Surrounded by eucalyptus trees, the pink lake is noticeable from far distances in an airplane on a clear day. The pink is most likely due to a certain type of algae or bacteria. If this didn’t scare you off already, the lake is actually perfectly safe for swimming and won’t cause any harm to people. The first person to swim there though had some guts to find out.

3. Blood Moon
If a blood moon doesn’t seem like a sign of the apocalypse, I’m not sure what does. We had one recently in 2015 though and everything turned out fine, for now. You might be lucky to see one or two of these within your lifetime. The full moon gives off a coppery glow after a glow after a lunar eclipse while the sunlight is still passing through the atmosphere. While were on the topic of blood, that l

A volcano in Bali is erupting for the first time since 1963. Several previously dormant volcanoes in Iceland are coming to life and going to erupt. We are in the middle of a very active climate!

Update your research on the sailing rocks. Scientists HAVE witnessed the movements and figured out how it happens. overnight dew is on the ground, and sometimes it freezes and with a thin layer of water on top of the ice it takes very little wind to move even the largest stones. They have also recreated this in a lab using the same process. That was done prior to them going out and observing the process themselves.

There are some stories about the Aurora Borealis touching down to the ground. At the time, these were dismissed as fantasy, but more info is coming in that may prove these to be real!
