Driverless cars could let you sleep

California is preparing regulations for driverless cars. CNN's Dan Simon reports.

When the technology improves it might do subtle wonders for society. It could reduce the amount of fatal drunk driving and sleeping at wheel if the trusty machine drives for you. That way you're away from the controls when you are not in the condition to operate them properly.

It is only a matter of time.  No buying and maintaining a car.  No registration, insurance (very high in NJ), rids the roads of idiot drivers.  A godsend for those who can't drive, can't afford a car, etc. etc.  It is coming, no matter what.

Volkswagen--sour grapes.  They can see the end of their business farther down the road.  Of course they are upset!  I couldn't be happier, given the reliability of their product for the last decade or so.

+wow85 machines dont have emotions and never will, unlike people who fucking  crazy with road rage. Also, this technology would be useful for authorities to stop car chases which are dangerous as they could get the computer to stop the car. Currently, their is something like this if you watch bait car you'll see why.

Driverless cars - taking the driver out of freedom to move (at speed)  One day only the rich will be allowed to drive.  This is a loss not a gain.
