A Brief History of Anglo-American Civilization

I have a number of videos discussing the past, present, and future of Anglo Civilization and I hope this video can serve as a kind of introduction video.

Young Anglican is just a hobby for a theology nerd. I do all of this in my spare time and don't have any relevant degrees in theology or philosophy, but hope that nonetheless my thoughts and knowledge still have a kind of value.

This video connected a lot of dots for me. I’ll be watching again to try to absorb it all. Thank you!

Also, I think your take on Anglicanism naturally being rooted in our culture is an excellent apologetic for being Anglican. I love my nation. I'm a patriot. Romanism and Easternism are foreign to our cultural heritage. I'm a son of the West. And an American patriot. Our Anglican patrimony is the best tradition for American Christians to situate themselves in. Also, the Anglican tradition is broad enough to welcome those of a charismatic, reformed, and/or catholic persuasion. Also, worth noting: There have been many Presidents who were Episcopalian. There have been no Lutheran Presidents.

Good luck getting the evangelicals to accept infant baptism. I loved the video and would love more Christian history/Anglican history.

I especially appreciated this video since I am a very English American. my homeschooled education had me study thoroughly the history of England, prior to being able to learn about America. I am very glad for this looking back, it’s embarrassing when people can’t name either American presidents or English kings, and don’t understand the most basic histories for the origin of our people. My personal favourite history is Winston Churchill’s history of the English speaking people.

I really liked the diagram at the end. Thank you for the content; it helps me feel continually connected to my growing faith in Jesus and the Anglican church.

The topic of this video looks really interesting, I'll be sure to watch it after school. My family is mostly Anglo-American, both sides go back to the first waves of pilgrims and have been on the American continent for almost 400 years. It's always been disheartening knowing so few Americans actively identify with their English heritage, especially since nearly every other ethnic American group be it German, Irish, Hispanic, Jewish, etc has a distinct culture and tradition familiar to Americans. But most Anglo-Americans are silent or ignorant of their heritage. I remember being on a culture/language themed camping trip and there was a point where people introduced their heritage to the group, I was the only one who referenced my English family heritage. I hope English heritage becomes a recognizable tradition in the same way so many other ethnic groups have their own identity in the USA.

As you were mentioning the reactionary pushback in politics, I was thinking of Trump being a master of making the opposition react to him. Glad you mentioned Trump here. Lots of political maneuvering from Trump that conservatives/Christians can learn from him.

Anglo-American Christian history is so fascinating because it in many ways is a story about Christianity’s resilience. Britain kept its traditions when abandoned by Rome and America kept its when it abandoned Britain. Lots of inspiration to be found

Great video, I enjoyed your analysis of the subject. I do find one aspect or epoch of this history which has been left untold in this video. Of course, I am talking about the fundamentalist movement as reactionary force against relativism. I think if anything this had a much larger impact upon the development of modern evangelicalism and the dissolution of the southern culture and religious behaviour. The common fundamentalist reaction from previously mainline and evangelical denominations in both the north and south is in my opinion, what has led to modern day “evangelicalism” and “nondenominationalism”

I appreciate the link between English history and American history. Doesn't get talked about or connected much.

What’s your opinion of this modern day Jacobite or theocratic catholic American movement? I’m thinking especially of people such as Nicholas J Fuentes and Michael Knowles and the sort? I think it’s a mistake to assume American values will ever be able to reconcile with Rome at a national level

Do more and go back farther with western history. Back through Rome, Greece and beyond.

Good video, have you looked into the work of Abraham Kuyper? While he was Reformed he wrote a lot about the way Christians engage in the public and political sphere.

31:09 so your justification for anglicanism is political expediency?
