Ok, so
Notice how they're holding a yellow balloon almost the entire time in reality and not in expectations?
My theory is that the balloon represents their hopes of the other girl (In the red shirt) being bi or as the song says, gay. but you can see in expectations they don't have the balloon for long because in expectations you wish it was as easy as walking up to the person and they like you back instantly, so they let go of the balloon because they don't need the hopes anymore since the girl likes them back. VS, in reality, they let go of the hopes in heartbreak because they see the girl is not interested in them so when they walk on the street they no longer have the balloon or the hopes for the girl liking them anymore.

Idk just a theory 🤷‍♀️
