I don’t claim to be an expert but I feel like you should cast slightly up stream so it can sink a little before you start retrieving it

Very true technique. I like running mine a bit more against the current so the spinner and lure flutters more. Wait to start reeling to sink to get depth

If you point the tip at the spinner your bite indication will not be the best. I dont know if it matters too much for steelhead but for smaller fish its good to have a 90 degree angle from tip to line
