Introduction to Subsets (new version available)

This video defines and give the notation used for subsets and proper subsets.

For the better part of a year I've been slowly trying to understand all this but I hit a block and always give up. That brief previous knowledge plus these detailed explanations are great. It's the symbols I'm just not used to and put me off when things get complicated, but this does a good job at explaining what they all mean.

B is not a subset of A because everyone living in AZ does not live in Phoenix. I hope that helps.

I'm confused on the Phoenix, Arizona, USA example. Wouldn't it be that B is a subset of A since every element of B is an element of A? Please help me clarify this. Thank you.

how can two identical sets ({a, b, c, d, e} and {a, d, e, b, c}) be SUBsets of each other? that seems counter intuitive.
also, what's the point of saying that the set of all weekdays is a subset of the set {monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday}?

and how did you get the whole 2^n conclusion?

Can you please go over the way you came up with subsets and proper sets of A={a, b}? Or anyone for that matter. This is where I get lost and want to give up because no matter how much I continue on, this becomes my weak point and collapses everything.

Wait so for 4:26, you said that the sets are equal because of the weekdays. Then you said they are not equal, so it that because they are not written the same way? Idk if you'd respond to this comment
