When I was in highschool, I would have to wake up at five in the morning to catch the bus by six. Then it was a bumpy ride to the junior high to wait for ANOTHER bus to actually take me to school, usually getting there by 7:05-7:10. School itself started at 7:30-7:45.

8 AM???!!! That was the dream by the time I was in school! Even my elementary school was already in session by 8 in the 90s and early 00s! Junior High (03-05) started at 7:15am. High school (05 - 09) started at 7:20am. My sister and I considered 6:30am sleeping in. Dad got us up at 5:30am. I decided to just eff it and go to school late pretty much every day. I was passing my classes reguardless if I actually made it to class or not. I made up exams I missed after school - they were easy. I only flunked one class because the teacher took it as a personal insult that I missed his class. He took it out on my little sister, too. I made it up in summer school. My Chem class ended with a C because I got an A on the midterm and a B on the final. Even the cops were like, "Whatever. You're still passing. Do what you want." My parents and teachers bugged me about it until graduation, though.

My parents did the same thing through the 2020s when my siblings all graduated. I still do it when starting a job with a new schedule/commute.
