Holy crap. And I thought you had a machine to do this detail for you all along. KING OF DIY.

Excellent! Thank you! I doubted this was possible before seeing your video. I just did it myself and got an excellent outcome. I cut the perspex first with a handheld jig saw, using a hacksaw blade (you could just use a hacksaw). I used the highest speed possible. Then I popped the blade out of a Stanley hand plane and scraped the perspex edge backwards with the blade to smooth things out (i.e., the opposite direction to which the blade would be going if it were still in the plane and I were planning wood). Then I sanded with medium-coarse sandpaper. Then I sanded with very fine (240) sandpaper. Then I polished everything using Jif/Cif (i.e. the mildly abrasive UK kitchen tile cleaner) on a paper towel. End result looks great! I wish I knew this were possible 20 years ago.

Mate, thanks. Keeping it simple and encouraging those of us who don't have a laser cutter, band saw, etc etc :)

Thank you. Straightforward and to the point. The progressively finer cutting/filing/sanding is similar to other materials, which makes sense, but the cutting fluid as the final stage for this was the key I needed.

Pro tip - use a propane torch with a quick pass instead. Just sand the edge with a rough grade very quickly and the torch will remove the rest and make it perfectly clear. Even the little butane torches work fine for this but require a few more passes. Practice on scrap first until you get the hang of the technique.

Thanks dude! i made Arduino RGB rev lights from one of your videos and at the moment the PCB is stuck to my monitor with Blu Tack! I will have to get the case 3D printed somewhere, then ill do this for the perspex. Big help, thanks again!

I wish to cut 10mm diameter colored acrylic rods into 50mm lengths in quantity and polish the cut edges. These will be used in jewelry production so a finished look is necessary. A slight bevel would be nice. These could be chucked on a drill press then spun against an abrasive or buffing surface. For instance a sanding/buffing block fixed at an appropriate angle. Some guidance would be greatly appreciated.
