Great contents Matt, and I like many of your strategies (many I use myself). You asked why would anyone pay a premium (buying put) to sell his/her stock at a lower price? That's insurance for the put buyer. Don't get me wrong, I'm an options seller myself, but there are good reasons why someone would buy puts or calls. The buyer of a put might want to protect his profits or prevent a very bad outcome or insure against unexpected risks. We as sellers have to assume risks that the buyers want to offload. We are compensated for that service, if you will, but it's not a free lunch. Keep the good contents coming!

Hello, first I want to thank you for the content you've put out through the years its been very informative and helpful. There is a question I want to ask I am familiar with "Volatility Crush" on Call Options, and I've developed a rule that keeps me safe as I won't trade an option with an IV above 60... and routinely stay in the below 40 range. But using the same strategy on Put options doesn't seem to protect you, as I've traded Puts successfully with an IV of 38... a sudden drop in the stock should generate gains but the IV is crushed even lower to say 31 so the Option is at a lost. I am a swing trader with a holding time of weeks to months, so ultimately the price over comes this initial crush in IV. But my question would be is it something that can be avoided or is it just something I have to factor in when I trade Puts. That with sudden drops in the underlying the IV of the Put will drop a certain percentage but then with time and a deep enough drop in price it will come back in my favor. It seems like there's a built in protection for those that write option contracts. Again your content is very much appreciated.

Hey Matt, love the channel and what your doing! I’m a long time viewer and have learned a lot. I feel like your not putting enough emphasis on a few things. Your “worst that can happen” when you said you’ll own the stock at the price you wanted. Let’s say at expiration your below your strike by 9 bucks. Now you keep your premium but are in the red 900 dollars. Also, I think you should of put a warning out to never sell puts on a stock that will put out earnings before expiration. I’m not critiquing you, like I said I’m a big fan, but there is a few bad scenarios while selling puts. Thanks again for the content!

So, let's say If I want to own TESLA stocks and I believe in the company long term. What would the downfall be if I go to put options expiring 2023, which have high premiums, then sell put options now, and collect ~3K up front? if someone exercise them, I benefit since I want to buy stocks anyways
