60 Second Training Tip: Dumb Dogs?

I’m often asked if a dog is smart enough to be trained. Many owners see continuous bad behavior and poor choices, even though they’ve tried to teach their dog to walk the righteous path, and assume it must be an intellect issue.

The good news is, it’s almost never a smarts issue...it’s a communication issue.

Even though you may have tried to tell Jethro not to jump on people, or have pulled back on the leash for years to “teach” Francis not to pull on walks, it hasn’t gotten through.

But we don’t need smarter dogs, we need smarter communication, the right tools, and the right training approach.

So many amazing dogs are languishing in perpetual kindergarten, because their owners haven’t learned how to teach them so they can advance and graduate to the next level.

Imagine having all that ability and no one to pull it out of you. You’d be acting dumb too. Instead of blaming our dogs, let’s step up and learn how to effectively communicate and train them! :)
