The DAS RCN workshop on “Managing Distributed Acoustic Sensing Data” was held at the Marriott Marquis on the Sunday prior to AGU, December 11, 12-5pm CT (virtual program from 1-5pm CT).

The goal of this half-day workshop was to discuss current practices, challenges and solutions for managing large DAS datasets. It is widely recognized that DAS datasets are some of the largest in geophysics, with more DAS data being collected every day. The workshop provided a forum for DAS practitioners, data management facilities, and other interested parties to come together to explore ideas, strategies and approaches for managing these extremely large datasets. We encouraged those who collect DAS datasets, those who archive and distribute these datasets, and those that use these datasets to share their experiences, requirements and solutions. At this workshop we heard from the following:

• 00:00:00 Introduction - Herb Wang
• 00:06:46 "Plans and Progress for DAS Data Archival at EarthScope" - Jerry Carter
• 00:25:35 "DASStore: an open-source object storage for Distributed Acoustic Sensing" - Marine Denolle
• 00:42:48 "Quick and dirty DAS data compression with SVDs" - Brad Lipovsky
• 00:59:14 “Review of previous presentations on PubDAS, Data Management WG, and LSST" - Herb Wang
• 01:19:34 “Proposal Plans and Funding Strategies” - Bob Woodward leading into a roundtable of Global DAS Month and other DAS projects, open discussion, and concluding remarks
