Yikes pretending to not be able to speak in Hindi or Urdu despite being a North Indian is embarrassing! I'm American (of Indian background) and was in Delhi recently shopping at the DLF Emporio Mall. I was buying a bag at LV and suddenly this girl walks in (dressed like a walking billboard) and starts fighting with the manager because she wanted to return a bag that she damaged. Her fake English accent went away and the Hindi came back as soon as soon as she had to start speaking in longer sentences to defend herself 😂 Do these idiots think that South Delhi isn't in India!? I've never even lived in India and their fake "I don't know Hindi" accent is worse than my real one 🙄

A lot of us sport accents today that we did not grow up with, myself included. But the important thing is to incorporate the rhythm of that accent if you sport it. I see this problem on a regular basis among people in the metropolitan cities of India giving that impression in public, especially NRIs.
