Показать описание
The winners of the 2011 People's Choice Award, the Point Preschoolers, show how they are going "beyond the hour" to help save the planet.
Over 135 countries around the world now take part in Earth Hour, an annual event started in partnership with WWF in Sydney in 2007. But it's not just about switching power off for an hour.
In 2011, WWF-Australia introduced the WWF Earth Hour Awards to celebrate the grassroots efforts of everyday Australians taking action for the planet.
The categories:
Education Award - For pre-, primary or secondary school -- or a class within a school -- involving their students in projects or activities which tackle environmental issues in practical and interesting ways.
Young Panda Award - For young people aged 17 years and under who want to change the world and with inspirational ideas on how to do it.
Sustainable Small Business Award - For small businesses with under 30 employees, leading the way with innovative and effective initiatives which have a positive impact on the environment.
Eco Blogger Award - For individual bloggers exploring and bringing to life environmental issues for the online audience.
Creative Arts Award - For inspiring projects -- within the visual or performance arts -- exploring environmental concerns, and offering audiences new ways of understanding and engaging with the issues.
Futuremakers Awards - For outstanding individuals thinking outside the box and implementing big, bold, creative ideas and initiatives that will transform our future.
People's Choice Award - Running in March, this is the public's chance to vote for their favourite, most inspiring finalist.
