Make sure your seam is close to the top of the folded hem so it doesn't flip back up.
Also if it is a garment that needs more stretch, make sure you use an overlock or zigzag stitch to get that stretch (not all machines do overlock).

straight stitch will snap when stretched on a t shirt better to use stretch stitch like a zig zig

Threading the machine and using the machine is the part idk how to do. I have hand sewn many times but it isn’t time efficient

your comment title should read "how to shorten a t-shirt"" since it was already hemmed...& NEVER use a straight stitch on any knit...your stitches need to stretch with the jersey fabric or your staight stitches will snap & break....

I can’t be safe around sewing machines.
I’m autistic and their amount of nose and vibration just makes it impossible for me to process things.
So I’m not afraid of sewing machines; I’m afraid for those around me when I use a sewing machine.
