March in D Major (Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach) Anh. 122 Piano Tutorial

Показать описание
Standard beginner piece by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, in the Notebook Anna Magdalena Bach. Level 3. At tempo, then slow @1:57. Jane is playing from a book titled Easy Classics to Moderns (Vol. 17), 1956 Consolidated Music Publishers. Not in public domain yet.

But that is the reason Jane's articulations and ornaments do not match this modernized version.

Jane, a retired university math teacher, started this volunteer project in April 2009. Positive feedback from wonderful viewers worldwide keeps her motivated. Jane is a strong advocate of reading music. She made unconventional sight-reading lessons that simplifies reading music.

Thanks! Btw, you are making the first note in measure 18 on the left-hand one octave higher than what is says in the score :)

Re-learning at 59 after having lessons for years as a child. Amazed by the variation between different editions of the same piece of music. I Have the Schirmers edition Of First Lessons in Bach, and it's marked up quite differently from the one your playing.

I also learned a new word - Urtext!

Been exercising on it for just over a month, now I'm finally getting some speed in it, but still not as fast as you were playing it. I do find the piece quite challenging.

0:19 -- fast
2:02 -- slow

the hardest part of the first half is this: 2:15 to 2:50 - for me though... I always get stuck on that part. for the second part, it is VERY confusing sometimes (for me, too!), except for the last three bars.

Thanks for posting this! I'm teaching myself to play and can play it slowly, but not at normal pace. Do you suggest learning 1 hand then the other or practicing learning both hands together?

At measure 18, you played the E one octave higher than what was indicated in the sheet music. Was that just a stylistic choice?
