PS3 can't sign into PSN after update (May 2022) - HOW to sign in.

USE THIS LINK TO CREATE PASSWORD:

STEPS TO LOGIN:
2) Login to your account.
3) You get a page called "Generate or Manage Device Setup Passwords"
4) Click "Generate New Password"
5) A password will appear.... ENTER THIS PASSWORD on your PS3
6) The password must include Capital and Lowercase letters, exactly as shown on the screen.
7 DO NOT USE THE PASSWORD in this video...It will not

This is Sonys way of screwing over their fan base that still plays on PS3 every once in awhile. They don’t want to shell out the money to keep the online servers on for PS3 so they’ve probably cooked up this little scheme to deter users from trying to sign in. I was able to sign in once. I checked all the boxes to save my info and sign in automatically. Log back into profile and you get a freaking auto sign in error! Wants you to do the QR code again. Why can’t they just leave stuff alone!

Does not work for me, when I type the new password as the new QR code device password it then keeps giving me the QR screen to generate another. Round and round I go.


Update: also done via setup a new account, and verified it etc. On the new account login, still wants me to do the QR on the new account and round and round we go again.

I can confirm the problem with the screen lies in the 2 step verrification. Once this has been turned on in your account (via website) then it suddenly works and stops looping

doesn't work for me. I use the same email, but it keeps saying you can not log in with another user's account. but it is my email that I always used on the ps3.

Update November 2023:

I sifted through a ton of the comments after being annoyed with this and nothing was working and I think i found the issue. If you keep getting the QR code over and over, you need to go into your PS account, and make sure you have dual-authentication enabled. If you don't, it will keep giving you the qr code. Once you enable it, it should work properly.

It doesn’t work for me. When I did this, it says “You cannot sign in using another user’s sign-in ID (e-mail address).”

To anyone still having trouble with this even after doing the above steps. You might have to turn 2 factor authentication on. I found this from one of the posts below and it worked for me. I tried reimaging my playstation and swapped the hard drive(was going to do this for another reason anyway) and it still didn't work. 2 factor did and it was immediate. I used a phone number to activate it. Not sure if that matters. Hope this helps.

This doesn't work if you want to change the drive out. I changed the drive out and it refuses to let me in the account.

Sony probably did this so that everybody’s playing in new generation consoles now, they’ll cease the old generation servers. Damn Sony for this.
