This is my favorite SP and step sequence of Mao's. And one of the best triple axel ever.

I think this program is mao's best.
Clothes go well with her and 'Masquerade' matches her SP(she looks so confident in this SP!!) after this program she looks so happy....

Although I was rooting for Yuna as a Korean, one cannot deny how insanely talented and beautiful Asada Mao is on the ice

When Mao skates for beauty, for example in exhibitions and ice shows, her
performance is very elegant, feast for the eyes and full of female charm. Her
skating fascinates the spectators. She skates to please people who are watching
her performance.

However, when she skates as an athlete, in the Olympic
Games in particular, she performs difficult jumps, spins and steps, in spite of
the risk of falling. What we see in her skating is an athlete
pushing herself to the limit. Her performance may look "shaky" to
some people who expect female beauty and elegance from figure skating, but what
we see here is a beautiful sight of an athlete who is trying with all her
force. Isn't it also what we expect form the participants of the Olympic Games?

The program by Mao was somewhat underrated at that time.Some viewers criticized it for not showing good artistry. However, in addition to that massive 3A2T, I can see that she integrates the waltz dance and balletic movements into her spiral, step, spins, transitions and the whole performance. This is actually an exquisite performance .It’s glad to see that more and more people now enjoy this skate though.

My favourite Mao Asada program: not so much for the 3A she executed without blemish but for the wonderful waltz to Masquerade.👏💖👍

For transitions, check out 2:25 spread eagle on different facing direction opposing to the entry of double axel, just fabulous! Mao said よし after that double axel, happy for her!
