If you want another approach:

The trinomial is of the form x^2 + bx + c, where b = r + s and c = r*s.
so the form would look x^2 + (r+s)x + r*s. The sum of r+s should be the same, as the product of r*s.
The given trinomial is (3x+2)^2 + 8(3x+2) + 12.
8 equals (r+s) and c equals r * s. You would notice, that 2+6=8 and 2*6=12, so we can say that
r = 6 and s = 2. Now we can substitute (change 8 and 12 for 2 and 6)

[(3x +2)+2]*[(3x+2)+6] | substitute
-> (3x+4)*(3x+8) | factored

now FOIL and compare to the solution given in the video:
9x^2+24x+12x+32
= 9x^2+36x+32

Way to skip a whole TON of steps. More confusing than helpful. Thanks for the effort.
