What camera system are you most impressed with in 2025 when considering value and cost?

That is not an apples to apples comparison. The fx 30 is the best affordable option for videographers. The s9 is a great entry level FF camera, but it does not have a full hdmi, it does not have a fan, it does not have two card slots. Therefore, it is very limiting for recording video professionally and semi-professionally. However, the S9 is an incredible “Daily driver”

If you wanna make your first indie film and are on a budget, you can definitely shoot your first film in 1080p with a recent camera that shoots in 10-bit. This way you'll have great 10-bit dynamic range (1080p nowadays is way better with recent sensors and, if need be, it scales up nicely to 4K in post), smaller files to process, and your camera won't overheat (for intimate shots, your sound person will thank you for the absence of fan noise). A little known fact is that distributors and festivals accept 1080p footage. It doesn't have to be 4K. For certain shots, you can complement your 1080p footage with 4K shots if you need specific coverage.

Once a Panasonic, always Panasonic. Great video of yours. Proud user of Lumix cameras since 2008! Never looked back...

Which lumix lens do you recommend for handheld selfie vlogging? The 18mm 1.8 seems an obvious choice but I’m not sure if the wobbling at wider views has been fixed in firmware?

At present, the S9 offers an exceptional value proposition, considering the rebates and discounts that Panasonic is actively promoting for the system.

There is no crop at 4k or higher unless u go for 50/60 fps, as for the overheating its strange one of my friend was able to run it for 4 hours until it overheated, and the other using 4k was able to go for more than 2 hours befor he got the signal of the overheat, at 6k its between 35m to 1h10 minutes, for mine i never did the test but in my use i never got the heating issue

Good timing being a Lumix s5ii user. just had buyers remorse on the fx30 and returned it today. I was impressed with the fx30 build quality though.

A small clarification, you commented being able to use Lumix's lenses on all Lumix cameras. This only applies to Lumix L mount cameras and lenses, L mount lenses are not compatible with Lumix m43 cameras.

Considering the price, is the FX30 that much better better than something like Sony ZV E10?

OM System OM-1 M 1 used about Eur 950, 00. Olympus OM-D E-M1X if you work most with tele lenses. MFT stabilisation is the best and you get small cheap and lightweight lenses. For travel OM System OM-5. Full frame Panasonic S5 or S5x. If you need E-mount, Sony A1 or Sony A7 R III and Sony A 7 IV (second hand ) after release of Sony 7 V . Some years old but still good enough.
Panasonic GH5 II or GH6 used for video work.
