Kabuterimon managed to defeat Andromon and free him because of the Black Gear possessing him and took advantage of that weakness when Greymon and Garurumon couldn’t.

What’s with the weird changes in size of the digimon. One minute they’re about twice the size of the kids, the next they’re about 50 times the size. Is this ever explained?
