I have the newest one, and i'm not too stoked with the preamp. It's almost like you gotta upgrade it to get the tones you want. It's a great jazz bass for the corporate work I do, other than that its a great bass. We'll see if still dig after a year.

So with my bass I pretty much keep all the eq stuff like 1-3 on the roll up because it's 6 is not 0 it's like +10db or whatever 😅

Gotta bring in the low end and just find the color and tone with the boosts, only bass I've owned with more growl was a Warwick

SUGGESTION YOU GET YOURSELF A HARD SHELL CASE TO PRESEVE AND PROTECT TO INEGRITY OF THE BASS. IT'S WORTH THE EXPENSE.

Love the slap tone, but everything else (just like a Fender J) sounds too plunky. I MUCH prefer the authoritative grunt one gets from a Stingray. Really it’s the humbucker in the bridge position I like. Though a Warwick Streamer sounds tits so I dunno. There’s something about that mid scoop for fingers that turns me off.
