I don't know how to word this. But I got a servre brain injury making all my mouth muscles week. But once in a while I can speak clearly I have no clue why.

I've had this problem for about 18yrs. And speech therapy didn't help.

My husband recently had a couple of strokes. He does well in the morning, but by evening he starts struggling and counts down from 10 instead of being able to say the words he wants. I sign a little and sometimes when I'm tired or distracted or just having an ADD flair, I sign the word I want and it "kick-starts" my thoughts.
Do you think some people may be helped by learning a few signs?
I know it helps children before they develop language skills. Might it help adults until they regain their lost language skills?
