Instagram’s new privacy settings which will boost in-app parental controls are a “great advance for parents and teenagers”, says tech expert and EFTM Editor Trevor Long.

His remarks come as new privacy settings are set to be introduced to Instagram designed to reduce the amount of harmful content young people can view online.

Teen accounts for those aged between 13 and 16 will be private by default and will need parental permission to change any settings.

“There will be ways around it, there will be kids who get around it,” he told Sky News Australia.

“But the most important thing is it’s kind of forcing kids and parents to talk about the rules and restrictions they have and want online.”

Heres a tip.
Kids under 16 dont need phones.
If you're old enough to drive, you're old enough for a phone

Parents, delete all apps you don't want your kids to use, the onus is on you.

So my daughter already has parental control over her kids phones. She can turn off internet whenever she wants and it also tracks the kids so she knows where they are. Its not new
