It’s late at night and this playlist made me want to write a story, so here it is. It’s about nostalgia and being stuck in the past.

I look around at this empty shell of what used to be a place I called home, fractured pieces serving as remnants of the lingering past.
The crumbled shadow of a time now past. A façade almost pretending that it is what is used to be.

The faint whispering memories echo in my mind, almost being able to reach out and touch the empty nothingness of what was once a known space, that was once something. Almost able to feel the past emotions I used to know so dearly, stretching out it’s dying breath in the back of my mind.
I reach and out a grasp for those distant thoughts of what used to be. But I realised I’m holding onto a fading hallucination. A mere amalgamation of a recalling of events burned into my mind. But in my closed hands, is nothing. Every part of my soul aches as it wants something to be there, some fragment of was here. But I have nothing, not a single thing whatsoever here.

I roam around these empty hallways, ghosts of the people that, like me, called this place home. Still roam.
But they’re not really there, the pure isolation of this abandoned sanctuary affects the mind deeply. Desperately wanting something, anything to be there.

I try so hard to visualise it’s former glory, but I’m faced with the truth of reality, seeing that all that’s left is a warped deformed reflection of what was here.

There is nothing left for me here.
I desperately try to chase the fading trail of my emotions that once took place here. But they’re gone, they’ve past. Everything here has passed by. But I’m still here, trying to relive what once was.

Trying to immerse myself into this manifestation of what I used to know.

But my lingering memories are all lies. What I thought was here, had vanished.
Everything I used to know isn’t the truth, not anymore.
Everyone has gone on, the place is no longer what I dearly remember it being.

It is a desolate abandoned shell of what I used to love. I try so hard to love it once again, like I did in my joyful carefree past. I try, anything. To feel any emotion of what I have before.
But what doesn’t exist can’t be felt.
Maybe it’s time to move on, like everyone else.

Clutching so desperately onto the grounds of what i thought I knew, trying my best not to get pushed my the winds of time. I realise there’s nothing left for me here. And so I gently let go of the rubbles of the place I once knew, a lingering memory.
