Plautus, Persa 801a-858.
Tthe slave Toxilus and his friends are celebrating their victory over the pimp Dordalus, whom they have swindled in order to buy the freedom of Toxilus' love interest, Lemniselenis. In this scene, the victors invite Dordalus to join their party, and then rough him up when he refuses to do so. Filmed in Gerrard Hall, on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Performed in Latin as musical theater with clarinet accompaniment by Tony Sprinkle. Music composed by T. H. M. Gellar-Goad.
Produced at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, July 2012, as part of the NEH Summer Institute, "Roman Comedy in Performance," co-directed by Sharon L. James and Timothy J. Moore.
