An example for me is that even though I now have the champs to beat hard fk10, I haven't bothered to build the team yet because the rewards are so irrelevant. In comparison, I was very motivated to get to stage 24/25 of normal dungeons back in the day... Times have changed

Absolutely agree. Also, the drop rate is criminal. You complete one fusion event doing 10 hard and if you're lucky, you have one usable piece.

I only raid dungeons due to Fusions. Everything I got from there is sufficient enough. Most of my gears are form Tower and Cursed City.

Including Minotaur in fusions would be so nice. There's hardly any time without a fusion or an soul-event for the fusion champion, so I hardly find time to farm mino without missing other stuff or investing too many gems

They definitely need to improve and rework the dungeon drops for sure. I think one of the most frustrating things is how insanely important stoneskin accessories are now for arena and how they are basically not farmable at all. You can only get them through Hydra Clash and that's both a terribly designed game mode as well as not enough accessories given how awful those drops consistently seem to be. Then you add the massive RNG on upgrading them and it's very possible to come away with absolutely nothing good every single week doing Hydra Clash. Super frustrating.

and yet dragon still drops garbage 24/7 for me ON HARD 10

The issue is that plarium dug themselves into a grave. Lethal is better savage, bolster is better shield. These are upgraded versions of already existing sets, and not unique sets. If these new sets were unique ones, youd still be farming fire knight to get savage, regen, Shield set. They either have to change the new sets or buff the old ones. The former will have the community holding their pitchforks, so the latter is the better options. If plarium is reading this, an example of buffing these old sets could be (savage - ignore def, increase atk or c.dmg. life set - 25% hp increase with 10% heal every turn).

3x speed is the only thing that brings me to dragon, besides fusions. oh well and clan quest :)

2:18 interestingly, the 3 sets you highlight in IG.. Retaliation, Reflex and Curse, were all buffed or completely changed. So the problem of irrelevancy is very easy to fix.

I am in between.

Yeah, if we go a few years back, the game cycle was fusion grinding 4 main dungeon, get a bunch of new gear and probably 1-2 new 6* and unlock new possibilities for faster teams or higher dungeon stage. You get the hype of doing something better.

Now, gear comes from various sources and you sell most of the main dungeon gear (but you do need gear to sell because upgrading gear cost so much.

On the other hand, forge pass gives a very limited number of 6* pieces and all those other sources don't necessarily drop good stats gear. Getting good stats and roll is the main problem.

Getting enough good pieces from there, I barely use Sintranos gear or live arena gear because my RNG was bad.

The game used to be about a small number of champion geared with op gear. Now it's more about having tons of built champion at all time.

In that case, I can still use lifesteal set on some Sintranos epics because at one point I don't have tons of OP gear of OP sets...

The focus of the game has shifted towards FW/Sintranos/DT and having a wide roster instead of the main dungeon that you only do on fusions (or to get silver from spider)

But I get the point!

Im a new player lvl 59, I only touch Dungeons when i do tournaments, the biggest gear boost I got was from forge pass and crafting. Done savage and bolster forge pass, have no need for dungeons because i dont have enough champions to gear.

I do still use some of these sets on my champs. An example would be the quad roll in speed accuracy glove that I have with defence main stat. No matter how I tune the optimiser for that support champ, that piece is in every build. I can't get the accuracy and speed requirement without that piece. Other than that, Perception is quickly replacing my accuracy set. A lot of the champs that have acc set on right now, if I optimise with the same priorities as before, it replaces the acc sets with perception most of the time.

I don't think normal mode needs to change. Early on, it's good to learn about sets through 2 piece Atk or Def bonuses. It's easy to make those sets, and 15% Atk at that point will often get put together by the optimiser. They're still relevant and part of account progression, until you unlock the ability to go for better sets.

Now the hard needs to change badly. I hear a lot of people say you don't need to bother building a team for some hard dungeons, because by the time you can, you don't need the gear anymore. I hear people just farm stage 20 normal, because it gives more points. Personally I think this is a huge problem. I need to want to farm the hardest stage I can. I think it's fine if stage 20 normal give slightly more points, but then the gear I get should offset me spending g more energy. I want to be excited to get a mythical 6 star piece, but at this point it would need to god roll, because the set effect is going to be outclassed.

Mtg.Jedi also did a vid today on this very subject and I'll copy part of what I said there here, as it was more or less the same question lol

I absolutely agree that dungeon sets need to be upgraded, and even if they don't put the old forge sets in there permanently, they could have 3x specials on forge sets in each of the dungeons and the special 9 piece set in spider once a week even if they make it faction specific, or turn based. so in every month there is one dungeon + spider with a forge set special and they can rotate them so every dungeon gets a different special set every time to rotate the other regular sets you get from the dungeons 4 in total over the month. They could very easily do tournaments and events specifically designed to get sets like Instinct too, but they won't, they won't do anything as it still works for them financially.

The next paragraph is an additional comment directed towards this vid.

Unfortunately, Paylarium don't care about obsolete content, just look at the market, token trader, daily quests, advanced quests, DT secret rooms once all the champs have been farmed. Whales don't farm gear into the late game they buy sets. f2p players have no choice but to farm dungeons as well as FW/DT materials as they have no choice. Relentless is only available from placing in tournaments/events, which means farming dungeons mainly, and that keeps the metrics looking good. So why change anything when financially they either make nothing from doing so, or they still make money from dungeons through people trying to get Relentless sets and doing fusions? They do nothing until it becomes apparent that the money is drying up, so they have to. QoL's take years to come through. How long have the player base wanted the tavern upgraded? 4 years at least. Things are happening now because they don't want to invest anymore in big projects/content after any that is already in the pipeline like the final faction, or perhaps The Great Void with the possible sale of Pixel/Paylarium by Aristocrat. If that is their design, then these QoL's are designed to keep the player base quiet while they move into trying to sell it. A toxic community is less likely to attract buyers, period. Having to do a major overhaul of all the in game content is less likely to attract buyers, period, so do some of the more obvious ones and leave the rest for the new company to manage. Think strategy, think long game, just think why now?

Like after 2 cursed city rotations the optimizer stopped picking lethal and savage and always picks me merciless. Unless they go nuts and add accessories for all the old sets, they become real obsolete real fast.

I totally agree on dungeons. Once you have good sets from the dungeons, it becomes so rare to get pieces worth keeping when the better sets come elsewhere.
You still need to run spider, simply because of the numbers. There are 180 types of accessory that spider drops. You're unlikely to get an ideal piece from Sintranos or Hydra clash. Of course, you can use trash. I've seen crazy teams running mediocre accessories, just due to the set bonus.

I agree to an extent, hpwever I think this is good game design.

In no other game are you still in the baby starting area 5 years later.

A problem raid has is that the baby starting area is the highlight of content; being able to solve the game in a unique way, where the player gets to design their own win condition.

Newer content is always bad whenever plarium decides the win con for us;

Bommel - they want us to use freeze, bonbs or rez

Hydra - Bloated kits, stats, and cheesey max hp damage. Forced specific buff/debuff conditions (unrealated to any intrinsic value those debuffs bring)

Ice spider - Use hp burn

Magma - Use provoke

Sandy - use sleep

Iron twins - idk, we all just cheese right?

And note, though magma and ice spider dont feel crap, its because they are easily forgettable and attainable skill checks.

An important tool for us to use when judging content is 'if there are no rewards for any content, where are the players playing?'

I think this is super important. Content needs to be fun, before it is made mandatory through rewards.

I used to love PvP, but completely stopped engaging with the game, because i didnt want to funnel through hydra, for stoneskin.

Good content should evolve, and i actually think sand devil, as a concept, is a good version of that (disreguarding the actual boss mechanics). It is a transitional option for energy to still be spent inproving gear, if its worth more than old dungeon farming.

Iron twins was actually promised to be this replacement for potion keeps. Awakening should automatically ascend imo, but they went back on that decision.

I agree, I think a way to help would be to merge some outdated sets. Like maybe life+stallwart+def or att+crit dmg + avenging, something like that. This way you reduce the number of sets, and make every drop more interesting

I'm not an end game player, but I still sell most of the gear that I get from dungeons. My champions that are only used in faction wars are wearing dungeon gear, but my multi-use champions are wearing better gear. Part of what makes dungeons divers such a painful grind is how much energy I'm wasting on getting gear that I'm just not going to use.

Get rid of rare and 5* gear in Hard mode dungeons. Add Minotaur, Sand Devil, and Phantom Shogun to Dungeon Divers. Then remove the trash sets from Hard Mode and add in some of the Doom Tower gear. By the time you are doing Hard mode dungeon you have already beat Doom Tower hard anyways.

it's very interesting topic...for sure many gear set have been power crept over the last years and therefore dungeons as well a bit.
but from ftp point of view this isn't necessarily a bad thing.
running dungeons mainly benefit whales and they will still grind their 5k+ energy / day while a ftp account can use gear from areas of the game which require no energy (ultimate limiting resource in the game).
