For thousands of years, man has dreamed of creating some kind of Utopia. A society where all can be free and happy. One person’s Utopia can be vastly different from another. Some are simply a society where we all live free, while others a fully communist. And there have been dozens of attempts to create Utopian communities in history. To my knowledge, they have all failed.

Fun fact about John Ruskin, he divorced his wife after being married only six months and not consummating the marriage because she refused to wax her body hair. He was seen as an eccentric for having an avulsion to body hair in spite of wearing various kinds of facial hair throughout his life.

Something about these "Utopias" reminds me of the Vaults in Fallout and how each one of the Vault Overseers went mad in their own ways, many in an attempt to create a Utopia.

Incredibly interesting, very nicely put together and most importantly, ORIGINAL.
What would've made it even better is if it had a picture of the location circled on a map after each one.

The Shakers actually took in orphans. When the orphans were older, they were given the choice to stay or leave. Those who stayed made up the Shaker communities.
