Scientists have discovered that dogs can smell stress in our breath and sweat.

Four dogs - pets volunteered by their owners - were trained to "choose" one of three scent canisters.

And in more than 650 out of 700 trials, they successfully identified a sample of sweat or breath that had been taken from a stressed person.

The researchers, at Queen's University Belfast, hope their study will help in the training of therapy dogs.

Stress, migraines, stomach pains, fever - all those common diseases and pain that I have experienced were felt by my dogs. One of them would stay with me in bed until I get better. Dogs are one of the greatest wonders of the universe.

Can confirm. I lost my dad earlier this year and I was very stressed with everything I had to sort out plus finishing my degree on top of that, and my two Westies definitely became more clingy and they wouldn't leave my side during those weeks after my dad's death.

My last dog, Tia, who is sadly no longer with us, started following me to the toilet repeatedly nudging me. She did it for weeks and I couldn't figure out why she was doing it... Until I started having problems Peeing. Basically, I was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer . Two Tumours and a growth in my Bladder. I went through weeks of Ops and Treatments and then finally got the 'All Clear', after that Tia stopped following me to the toilet... God rest her soul, She Knew I had a serious problem Long before I did and it was her way of trying to tell me.

Dogs can tell lots of things, but they can’t ( WON'T ) make the tea.

My 1 dog could tell whenever I got frustrated/annoyed/stressed instantly, I could be sitting in my chair and she'd be passed out in her chair, I'd get that rush of heat flow through my body and I generally wouldn't express it outwardly but she knew and would hop off her chair and go lay by the door and I'd always be amazed how she knew.

THEY FEEL THEIR OWNER'S
EMOTIONS,
INCLUDING STRESS.

Amazing creatures, dogs can even smell whether the S&P500 is going to go up or down the next day.

I find it more strange that we didn’t discover this earlier when we have service dogs for emotional support and medical reasons.

don`t blame a dog, don`t look at an exhibition, don`t listen to a song, don`t read a letter, look behind. oh, just a joke, oh just a joke

why don`t you talk about people who can't stop at night between 12 and 6 to make noise? this should be directly connected to the dogs who can smell stress.

Cats as well!!
whenever they see me cry, they came up to me trying to smell my face!
The look in their eyes makes them cry more because I can see how confused and concerned they looked!
I'm crying just thinking about it. T
hey literally save my life.
They are the love of my life. I have no one else but them. They are my everything.

Any loving dog owner already knows these things.
Love a dog and get love back, treat it like crap and you will get crap back, thats how it goes pretty much.

it is very, very possible that a MAD SINGER knows something about the deadweight loss of noise in the night.
