Oh good gracious! Mr. Knightley sure does speak his mind...I would be simply seething to his retort to Emma at around the 17th min discussion.
I appreciate someone putting this up. My mind wont wander as much now that I am able to listen and read along :)

Thank you for this video, I like it so much! Btw, can anyone tell what accent it is? Is it RP? As I am not a native speaker of English, it's hard for me to distinguish. I can only tell that it's British accent.

I think its use of handsome signifies her beauty is perhaps more striking or a different sort of beauty from that of typical ideals of femininity as gentle, soft and organic. Also I believe in wasn't insulting back then as its use today would imply she looks like a pretty man which isn't what the book is trying to say.

Actually, I think you'll find that this isn't a British accent - it's an American accent, just not a very strong one. The r's give it away. Actually...might be Canadian!
