It is late September here in Wisconsin and we know a frost is on its way. But we have incredible Butternut vines but they squash hasn't ripened. We feel that it is a race against time (or Mother Nature). Thanks to your good advice/tips including how to force tomatoes to ripen (we have 60 Italian Plum Tomato Plants!) we now feel we have the edge and will have a good harvest! Thank you so much.

This was very helpful. My vines keep growing long and I wasn't sure if it was ok to prune. Thanks for the tip!

Imma totally gonna do that to my sprawling butternut!

No way new late August 2024 squash will be ready by frost-looming mid-October in zone 5b!

Hi Susan, I live near Edmonton, Alberta zone 4a. I have tried for 3 seasons to grow butternut squash but it is my bane. The vine grows great but I do not get any fruit. I do get flowers but not too many. Do you have any suggestions for me? I grow spaghetti squash and get tons of those but no butternut. Everything else grows amazingly in my garden but for some reason butternut will not. Thank you for your videos. Peter

Hey Susan; is it the plan to limit the squash plant to producing only one squash?

Susan don't the leaves help with photosynthesis?

What about the theory that you open up the plant to the inception of bacteria and harmful viruses
