Biltmore Sticks - "Science teacher Leanna worked with math teacher Caitlin to apply knowledge of climate change to our local forests. Students built their own biltmore stick and Merritt hypsometer that allowed them to measure the height and diameter of trees. From this information they were able to calculate the mass of a tree, and then infer the carbon sequestration capacity of a local forest. (How much CO2 a forest is able to remove from the air and store as biomass)" - Andrew Deaett, Science teacher
