The south rejected NSE, and they regretted it when SE, SWR and Southern came into power.

“We served the south, and it abandoned us.” Incredibly poetic, yet sadly true.

"we served them, and they abandoned us" That saying honestly works perfectly for all british railways in the 1950's onwards

'We served the south and it abandoned us.' is such a strong, poetic yet also sad and infuriating line

It would be so cool if when Great British Railways comes into existence, they bring back the NSE branding and colors and do something like what burger kings done, where they take the old branding, and bring it back and make it a bit more modern but still retro and within the same general design

Virgin West Coast was also under Chris Greens work during the Pendolino and Voyager construction programs. Severely underrated and very honest miracle worker.
If only more people were like Chris Green, honest and determined to serve the public.
