Here we have the lovely "Millie Small" with the song "My boy lollipop" which was released in 1964 i believe.This song was originally recorded by then 14-year old American singer Barbie Gaye and became a minor Rhythm & Blues hit in late 1956."Millie Small" is a Jamaican singer/songwriter who has now made her home here in the UK.

I was born on a small island back in the late 50's ( blinked and I missed heaps of years..lol ) ...no TV ....just radio and records....my very young years were spent dancing for hours to the radio all these wonderful old did the years go??? So glad to have YT ...for the wonderful musical days to you all xxx

Right in the middle of the first year of the "British Invasion" of the US charts (1964), a song already popular in the UK washed up on our shores and snuck up to #2 on our charts. It became the first international hit by a Jamaican artist. This alone should make Millie Small a legend. But, among a host of things, her hit made Ska music (and by extension, Reggae) possible for the world outside of Jamaica. And the record has never stopped selling since. Now that's a legacy.

My mother absolutely LOVED this song she would tell me as a teenager. She was 15 when it first came out and she still loves it today.

I was only two when this came out, but this was played loads. I remember singing this when I was eight. I'm 58 now and still love this song. Thank you Millie, much love x
