7:22 To use my favorite quote from Fallout: New Vegas: "Time you enjoy wasting isn't wasted time." Something I repeat to myself all the time when confronted with anyone's activities that I find silly or frivolous.

Ah yes the sage, elder commentary of Fros- "Born in 95..." FROST IS A YOUNGIN?!

Frost hitting me with Totalbiscuit after all these years. I'd forgotten that I missed him

"If you're only ever yelling at one type of people, maybe you're not the moral center." My god. I wish every politician could hear these words.

Petition to make it illegal for anyone emplyed by Second Wind to reveal what year they were born to stop me from crumbling into dust.
Great video all the same.

Watching the "gaming industry" be stuck on a endless cycle of growth without expecting any kind of failure to create a long chain-reaction of FUCK is like reading about the Roman Empire.

This is also a good time, now that the meteoric rise of our industry is starting to level out (or took a humbling sock filled with rolled up quarters to the face for those actually working in the industry) to do something we really should have done near the start of the first spike in the industry, "preservation of our history". With eyes falling from the push for bigger, better, prettier, and staggeringly expensive games, how we interact with, make accessible, and redistribute our history should be a serious question with long term thought and plans. We have this opportunity, lets make the most of it.

The point about Gen Z being console agnostic is so true. I've been playing Nintendo games for years but would never consider myself a 'nintendo fangirl'. I happily play friends' X-boxs or Playstations and have never once in my life felt the urge to defend Nintendo in a comment section lol. If Nintendo started putting their exclusives on PC then I would never buy another one of their consoles again. If a game doesn't have cross-platform multiplayer then I don't buy it. If I can't play with my friends because of console limitations, then there's no point in me even owning that game.

The assumption of the middle is that both ends are standing in their spot in good faith, and I think it's magical thinking to say that an industry is going to temper itself. There has not been evidence of this historically in any medium on a meaningful scale.

Ahhh yes, my weekly scotch on the rocks first thing Monday morning to shock myself back into some sense of normalcy after this weekend in America. Cheers, Frost.

I believe in paying it forward, or serial reciprocity. Today I donated a three foot high pile of TTRPG books, five bags of custom dice, and miscellaneous odds and ends to local TTRPG enthusiasts. People who will get more enjoyment out of the books and dice and whatnot, while I'm moving on to newer TTRPGs.

So that was a large chunk of my day.

Oh, holy crap, someone else sees it! I was starting to think my optimism for the direction the industry seems to be trending was naive Millennial positive thinking, but people really do seem to be coming around to the notion that infinite growth is a holographic carrot on a stick being used to beat them with.

I looked directly at the screen and said in a loud but still somehow deadpan voice. "Son, my first console was a Commodore."

Cold Take: The world market is open for business. League’s popularity was because it could run on an ancient device and with gamers all around the world, the Western Market is only a slice of the pie. The next true zeitgeist hit is going to be one that can be experienced everywhere and isn’t limited to high end devices

Always here to remember Totalbiscuit. Was talking to my partner about his stuff last week. I'm glad his voice lives on in others too.

Rest well TB ❤

Doing great Frost, thanks for asking!

A point I'd like to highlight in your video is how flush we are of choices when it comes to games to play, even for the most niche of genres. So when I get told by friends and family there's "nothing good to play" despite all the untouched games wallowing in their Steam libraries, I have to remind them that the indie scene is brimming with dozens of quality titles that came out just this year alone. And that's not even including all the great stuff from years ago that feels like it was tailor-made for my tastes.

There's plenty of fish in the gaming sea. You've just got to cast out the net instead of waiting for one to rise to the top.

Oh no! Totalbiscuit has been mentioned. The ghost shall appear in my feed once more 0_o
Still It's interesting how much Totalbiscuit did that makes him pop up in this historical context.

"Everyone believes they're the center of morality, but if you're only ever yelling at one group of people, you might not be standing in the middle." That is such a great line, very much applicable in today's political climate as well.
