I was a club bouncer for around 5yrs in my 20's. I'll never hold anything that someone says when they are hammered drunk/high. People that I knew for my entire life would flip out and physically attack me or their friends/family, many would black out and not remember what they did. They were in an altered state. Some of these people were great people otherwise, did charitable work, etc when they were sober. It's people who are 2 faced/mean/evil when they are dead sober that you have to really worry about.

When you trash someone, you severely diminish your ability to be a positive influence to that person. Dr. Phil clearly loves to be a positive influence.

Bill is trying to get Phil to be politically incorrect. This won't happen, because he knows the consequences of being such. Phil is concerned with the consequences of his actions, and Bill just doesn't care about consequences. Also, Phil was raised, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all" type of upbringing. Let's just say Phil isn't dumb enough to shoot his mouth off against individuals. On this, they will never see eye to eye.

It's OK to call out bad behavior and hate speech but Mel is more than one drunken rage. Dr. Phil sounds very...CURRENT. You should try to get Mel on the show. Most of his movies are good and some are great. Most of us can separate the art from the artist or there wouldn't be much to watch.

It's the interactions like this that really shows Maher for who is when there aren't writers and a team of people working around him. He can't even grasp the concept of someone not wanting to enter the fray, let alone why. He assumes that Phil must be getting something out of doing it. It's like watching a sociopath struggling to understand why a person would care about someone else's feelings.

Wrong title. Not people. He doesn't trash PUBLIC figures....which is cowardice AF imo. He won't call out his equals or figures with higher social status than him, but he'll call out "the peasants" every day on his show. Plus, Dr. Phil doesn't look all there anymore. Don't have to be a doctor to see his neurological functions have slowed a bit.
