Atonement, though a beautiful book, told the story of a self-indulgent, decadent teenager who made a mistake and generated a domino-effect ending in death, to subsequently write about it with a different conclusion, only to fall from grace at the end. That was a story about the power of literature to create different worlds. This is the autobiography of a generation betrayed by their Patriotism.
I hope the movie keeps true to the book.

I've read the book and it's heartbreakingly beautiful. I was skeptical about who they would cast as Vera and Roland but Alicia and Kit look perfect for the roles. I can't wait to see this even though it's a tearjerker.

I'm really excited about this! I've read Vera & Roland's letters and know the ending :( Her memoir was haunting and beautiful...the casting is perfect :)

I think(and hope) this movie will give Alicia a big boost. The character shold fit her perfectly. Look into her eyes whith a sad expression on her face, and listen to her wonderful voice when speaking. My heart is melting. If she comes close to what she has achieved in some of her early movies, she might go for an Oscar award.
