Simply and to the point. Bout time someone got to the point on doing something on you tube instead of drawing it out. Great job

I have a 220 outlet, 2 hot, 1 ground. No neutral. I can measure from either receptical slot to ground and it’s 120volt, so I’m wanting to hook up a custom extension cord making a 110v outlet, but devices don’t work with just one side hot and ground, I need a neutral can I just use or jumper both neutral & ground at the custom extension cord cord?
Thanks

This does work, but I would use a 15amp or 20amp GFCI plug instead of a regular one. Your 220volts has a breaker that I’m guessing is like 30amps or so.

# can I piggyback off of the 220 and run a 110 for my washing machine?

Intresting
I am looking to make an extension cord to go out to my shed from my dryer to weld out side now my welder is a 110 and 220 inverter thingy were a regular extension cord will suffer from to much voltage drop and with this idea I think it should overcome my problem the distance from the dryer to the shed may be about 30 feet the other questions are wire Guage fuses I will like to have a small reseptical at the end for plugs any input on my conundrum will be a great help
Thank you in advance

What about the 2 pole 30 Amp breaker in main panel breaker?

Keep one eye on safety and current rating. If the 200V line was fuse or breaker say at 40 amps, the 220V wiring is likely rated safely to carry that 40 amps. Yet, you may want to breaker the "new" 110v line for 20 amps for reasons of current--handling safety or code protocol.

At 2:59 you have the red wire capped off, is it possible to a 3 pole wago block for the neutral and the ground to split those then add a second outlet with the red hot wire, and the shared neutral and ground wires? Or can the neutral and ground not be shared to get 4 outlets?

Great post, would a 30 amp 120v outlet for a harbor freight 140 welder wire the same as 110v but using heavier wire. I have a disconnect with 2 30amp buss fuzes for my 220v stick welder that i want to change to the 30amp. Your post shows the 2 equals 220 so if i meter these to make sure it should be ok. I have pictures but no way to send here

I got a 220v line powering my water well pump and I need a 110v outlet to run a light, is there a way to wire a 110v to the 220v so they share same wire.

Why could you not break the connector isolating it from the bottom outlet, on the 110 volt receptacle and connect your other hot (red) 110v to the upper terminal? Would you not have 2 separate circuits on one receptacle which would allow you to run 2 different loads on separate circuits with one dual receptacle? I typically run 3 wire on my outlets using 2 breakers isolating the upper from the lower on the dual 110v receptacles to allow me to run 2 tools off one receptacle on 2 independent circuits so isn't this the same thing? Thanks good video...

What do you do if your 220V outlet only has three prongs?

So could I wire up two regular outlets from a 220 wire instead of capping off the other hot so I can have two????

If I want to keep the 220v plug but need to add 110v plug next to it. Would adding a pigtail to hot neutral and ground and out to the new 110v outlet work?
