It was his first debut. Imagine how nervous he had to be... No audience reactions when he'd end a joke so the quick jump to the next, on live tv in front of thousands, he did a great job for him doing this first try in from of such a huge audience..

Gosh I did not know he was gay, so he plays very very good his character on atypical!

It takes time in comedy to hone and perfect your stage show and your "persona". So I respect Colbert for giving opportunities to young Comedians looking for a start.

How to cut comedic tension: "so, I'm also gay, "

This was solid. Specially the ending. I hope he has a successful career in stand-up if he wishes to pursue it.

This is something that I respect about Western culture, had Nik been brought up in India, he'd have a tough time accepting his own sexuality.

The irony being that India was a land where sexuality was once celebrated, it gave the world masterpieces like "Kamasutra" and "Rithusamhara", yet it took 70 more years after independence from Britain for India to legalize homosexuality. There are still many Victorian laws and outlooks that haven't completely changed.

I hope Nik would serve as an inspiration to millions of Indians who are struggling to accept themselves.

I think India was never homophobic cause there are many ancients text and sculpture depicting it and accepting it but I guess its British rule what changed it 🤷
